SBS drama series “Rooftop Prince” which is starring by JYJ member Park Yoochun and Han Ji Min is climbing to number 1 in viewership ratings.

According to AGB Nielson media research, “Rooftop Prince” episode 16 aired on May 10th, 2012, recorded the viewership rating based on Seoul Metropolitan area of 14.5%, ranked at top spot alongside with KBS drama series “Man From the Equator“. The drama finally back to the 1st position after a long time.

Recently, the tense development of “Rooftop Prince” attracted the attention of viewers.

Yong Tae Yong (Park Yoochun) who disappeared in episode 15 aired on May 9th come back to South Korea in episode 16 aired on May 10th, and Yong Tae Mu (Lee Tae Sung) is using Yong Tae Yong to pressure crown prince (Park Yoochun). The conflict of people around crown prince and Yong Tae Yong is reaching a climax. Moreover, Park Ha (Han Ji Min) is abducted by Yong Tae Mu, raising further the tension.

The full-fledged confrontation between crown prince and Yong Tae Mu in “Rooftop Prince” is about to in full swing, and the closing in to the mystery of the murder of crown princess, are expected to exacerbate tensions.

“The government will kick out CEOs and staff members who disgrace the entertainment community with shameless crimes.”

This is the determination that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism revealed to eradicate sex crimes rampant in the entertainment industry in a press conference Wednesday.

In this connection, the ministry said that the government will seek legislations on prevention of sex arrangement in the entertainment industry this year.

The move has come as a chief executive officer of an entertainment management agency was arrested last month for having sexually assaulted 11 girls who were training as singers or actress at the agency. The CEO is a Chang of Open World Entertainment.

“There is no system that protects trainees at an agency or star-wannabes from swindlers or brutal owners who ask sex.” said Kim Gap-su, director-general in charge of Cultural Content Industry Office at the ministry. “Of course, 'hallyu', or Korean wave, contributed to boosting the national brand power but illegal acts or frauds targeting young star-wannabes in the pop-culture industry have to be rooted out immediately.”

The ministry will look into all entertainment agencies to check whether they are involved in unfair practices against trainees in collaboration with Korea Entertainment Producers' Association and the Korea Entertainment Management Association.

The two private organizations will also form task forces to cooperate with the government. The task forces will collect basic information on music video makers and training management agencies, such as what kinds of businesses they are doing, how many trainees and entertainers they have.

Singer Kim Jang Hoon has set a new challenge for himself: to swim the 215 kilometers from the coast of Jukbyun in North Gyeonsang to the islet of Dokdo on Aug. 15 to mark Korea’s National Liberation Day.
The entertainer, who is sponsoring the “8.15 Dokdo Crossing” project, said that as well as supporting the project financially, he wants to offer his body to it as well.

The event’s organizers from Korea National Sport University said that Kim’s support has been crucial this year.
“Our swimmers are set to swim from Jukbyun to Dokdo to reiterate the fact that the islet belongs to Korea! We could think of none other than Kim to head the movement,” said Professor Choi Kang-jin from the university.

Kim will undertake training for the remaining three months in order to keep up with the students. The swimmers will depart on Aug. 13 in order to arrive by the 15th, which is the day that Korea was liberated from Japanese colonial rule back in 1945.

Kim has been involved with Korea’s territorial claim over the islets for some time. Earlier this year, he placed posters to raise awareness of the nationalist issue in 16 cities throughout the world.

Kai, Sehun and Baekhyun, who are currently promoting their title track “MAMA”, went on a road trip for the pictorial and showcased their free spirited charms on the beach under the sun. The boys even showed a bit of abs, daringly going topless for some of the shots.

KBS popular drama “Dream High” was honored with a win at this year’s global television festival, Rose d’Or Awards, which took place at Lucerne, Switzerland on May 10th.

According to the official Rose d’Or website, “Dream High” won the grand prize in the category for ‘Children & Youth’, a first time a Korean production has won in the category. The drama beat out United Kingdom’s “Kindle Entertainment” and Germany’s “Youre Not a Werewolf”.

Founded in 1961, the Rose d’Or awards ‘Golden Roses’ for originality, quality and creativity of selected television entertainment programs from all over the world including Australia, Belgium, Germany, Asia and United States.

Korean actress Lee Min Jung has agreed to film the KBS 2TV Monday and Tuesday drama series “Big”, playing the role of simple and innocent female teacher Kil Da Ran, who is in embarrassing state due to sudden change of mind by her engagement party. The 3 stills released on May 8th, 2012 show the fresh and lovely temperament and lively cheerful but foolish charm of Lee Min Jung respectively.

Through new drama “Big”, Lee Min Jung is staging the scene of rushing toughly to snatch the bride’s bouquet that was thrown at others, and laughing wildly after listening to the story of the broadcast, completely subverting the previous image of Lee Min Jung.

For those who do not have an idea, Avex hosts an August summer tour in Japan annually that features their most successful artists. The concert dates are always on the weekends of August.
