In Japan, the popularity of K-POP artists and Hallyu stars is heating up. K-POP artists have recently met Japanese fans through live concerts in Japan and are thoroughly carrying out their role in spreading the Korean culture.
On the afternoon of the 31st, we have observed the current state of K-POP artists in Tokyo’s Tower Record shop in Shinjuku.

The K-POP groups with the most popularity in Japan currently are Kara and TVXQ (Tohoshinki). Following in the footsteps of Kara and TVXQ are Girls' Generation, Super Junior, SHINee, 2PM, Big Bang, 2NE1, T-ara, and Secret. The secret to their popularity is their sexiness and power that contrasts with Japanese singers.
In addition to these, the K-POP stars that are currently receiving much interst in Japan are EXO-K and SISTAR. In the streets of Shinjuku, several stores were playing various songs by SISTAR.
Ogi Chiemi (female, 28) says, “Recently, out of the K-POP stars, EXO-K and SISTAR are receiving the most interest” and that “SISTAR is drawing many male fans with their sexiness.”
In addition, in Japan, artists including Jang Geun-suk, 2PM, SHINee, T-ara, and After School have been sharing the Korean culture in Japan through their solo concerts recently.
