‘Muntinational’ idol group’s new trend is here.

New idol group EXO, which recently debuted, has Chinese members. EXO consists of EXO-K and EXO-M who performs songs in both Korean and Mandarin respectively. EXO-M has 6 members, which are Korean members Chen, Xiumin and Chinese members Kris, Luhan, Tao and Lay.

The advantages of having a multinational group having the same promotions is that they can perform overseas, thus the local members get a lot of attention from their local fans. There are currently lots of active multinational members in idol groups nowadays. 2PM Nichkhun and Rania’s Joy are both from Thailand; f(x)’s Victoria, and Miss A’s Jia and Fei are all Chinese.

CROSS GENE says that “We kept in mind that there are many idol groups targeting the international audience”, and “If our music portrays the international feel of the group and caters to the international audience, then we feel it won’t be as hard to enter”.
